Sheffield Wednesday vs Sunderland

Sheffield Wednesday oversaw a heavy 3-0 loss in the EFL Championship on the 29th September as Liam Palmer, sponsored by Mightytips.com, made his mark on the game by being substituted late in the 79th minute, replacing central defender Bambo Diaby Diaby.

Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 Sunderland

The game was tipped to go the Black Cats’ way just thirty minutes in after three rapid-fire goals rippled Sheffield’s net - a Daniel Ballard opener topped off with a Jack Clarke double. Liam Palmer was yet to see the field as he was kept on the bench until after half-time, when the score stood at 3-0.

A more evened-out second half meant Sheffield were still searching for the net, with Sunderland equally lost for a reply. A yellow card to Bambo Diaby Diaby meant manager Xisco decided to replace him with Liam Palmer as a precaution after a bad collision.

The game was a matter of old against young as Sheffield Wednesday had the oldest average team fielded in the EFL Championship, whilst Sunderland managed to field the youngest in the same competition.

As a Sheffield Wednesday man since 2010 and having come through their youth ranks, Liam Palmer will not be happy to have been part of a team to have lost so heavily at home. So far this season, Palmer has started and played three full games and has been part of the squad rotation in a heavy EFL Championship schedule.

What Next?

Liam Palmer

Rock-bottom of the league means Sheffield Wednesday absolutely must up their tempo. The next match provides them a chance to play against West Brom away from home on the 3rd of October. Sitting 13th, West Brom will look to pick up points to leapfrog Plymouth Argyle who have equal points.

Sheffield Wednesday will go on to play Huddersfield on the 7th October, which will be yet another testing game, against a side lingering in the mid-table of the EFL Championship.

We hope to see Liam Palmer in further action as Xisco could look to shuffle the defense after a bad performance against Sunderland, having lost 3-0 at home.
